Loreen’s ‘Euphoria’ Baku’s Favorite Among Betting Companies

http://www.girlit.se/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Loreen.jpg http://www.photosbyalexandra.com/blogg/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/melodifestivalen-2012-loreen-euphoria-fotograf-stockholm-photographer-stockholm-sweden.jpg
Exclusive research, provided by social media monitoring company Meltwater, reveals that Loreen is the top favorite. The company has analyzed more than 44,000 posts, claiming that more than ten percent favors ‘Euphoria.’ According to Aftonbladet Nöjesbladet, betting companies across Europe put Loreen first. According to research from the online gambling group Unibet, Loreen’s ‘Euphoria’ equals more than 68 percent of the turnover for the ESC betting as compared to the Russian babushka’s 13 percent. Danes favors their own entry – Soluna Samay’s ‘Should’ve Known Better’- which equals 40 percent of the local turnover. Meanwhile, the pan-European portion is no more than 1.87 percent. Jonas Nilsson, PR Manager at Unibet says:
Even if many put a bet on its own company, Loreen is the pan-European favorite among our customers. Our research predicts a victory tomorrow.” According to DN, competing betting company Svenska Spel, offers 1.7 times the money if you bet on Loreen. Runner-ups are Buranovskije Babusjki, 5 times the stake, followed by Serbia, Italy and Great Britain.

Must Impress Local Jury Groups Tonight

Although the final does not take place until tomorrow night, Loreen must impress the members of the local jury groups tonight, according to Aftonbladet. 42 jury groups cast their votes tonight. “A mediocre rehearsal may cost her the victory,” Torbjörn Ek, Aftonbladet’s ESC reporter in Baku. Haven seen today’s rehearsals he’s confident that the voice is there and she sang all the time. “Wow, it’s…soon. I wanted to make the final and now I’m in the final. I will just eat a nice meal, take it easy and there’s not much more to do than what I’ve always done. In a few hours, I’m on stage again,” Loreen told TT Spektra via Svenska Dagbladet.

ESC in the Rear View Mirror

A year back, we followed Eric Saade’s adventures in Germany and the feud with Russian singer Alexey Vorobyov. As Svenska Dagbladet reports, little more than a Swedish victory tops Saade’s No.3 ranking with ‘Popular.’ Carola’s ‘Invincible’ ended up at fifth place back in 2006, and was followed by four tough years with one missed final and three lower rankings. Svenska Dagbladet’s ESC expert Harry Amster is convinced that it will either be Loreen or the ‘elderly women’ from Russia. He also points out that Greece, Cyprus and Serbia have strong entries.

Eurovision 2012: Roman Lob Sings For Germany

After a total of eight shows Germany's national selection Unser Star für Baku finally came to an end tonight. The televoters decided that Roman Lob will represent Germany in Baku. He will singStanding still and try to repeat the good results Germany scored in the last two years.
Unser Star für Baku started on January 12th, 2012. 20 artists competed for the honour of representing Germany in Baku. After seven shows including one quarter and one semifinal the final was held in Cologne tonight. The two remaining participants - Ornella de Santis and Roman Lob both performed three songs. There were two rounds of voting. During the first round the viewers had to pick one song per artist. In the second round they should determine the artist. All songs were played live by Stefan Raab's band The Heavytones.

'American Idol' Final 3: Why Phillip Phillips Should Win

http://www.aceshowbiz.com/images/wennpic/phillip-phillips-american-idol-season-11-top-13-01.jpg

The 21-year-old heartthrob from Leesburg, Ga., has the musical chops to seize the season 11 title.

Some might say Phillip Phillips had us at hello. Specifically: that fateful first audition in Savannah, Ga., some 200 miles from his hometown of Leesburg, when the 21-year-old looker sang Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” as it never had been sung before. Strumming an acoustic guitar like his life depended on it -- even breaking a string midway through -- he revealed an unexpected blue-eyed soul in two minutes flat.

The judges were wowed, and clearly so was America because here we are, some four months after that first impression, and Phillip is one of three left standing, the American Idol crown clearly in view. And in this Idol Worshiper's opinion, he deserves the title. Here’s why:

If there was ever an Idol contestant who marched to the beat of his own drummer, it’s Phillip Phillips. From captivating covers of the unlikeliest of songs -- Genesis’ “That’s All,” Usher’s “U Got It Bad” to name just a couple -- he brought a sense of unpredictability to a show that some might consider among television’s most predictable. And even when his performances didn’t quite hit the mark (his British pop week choice of “Time of the Season” left a lot to be desired), there’s no denying artistry and musicality, two things that will go a long way toward commercial success outside of the Idol bubble.
 http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/blog_post_349_width/2012/05/phillip-phillips-pr-p.jpg http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/blog_post_349_width/2012/05/phillip-phillips-jessica-sanchez-p.jpg
He didn’t listen. One of the biggest challenges when it comes to competing on Idol is having to decipher who to listen to and whose advice to ignore. Phillip chose to trust himself, both when it came to song choice and onstage style (or lack thereof). Nigel Lythgoe, Jimmy Iovine, Tommy Hilfiger -- despite impressive credentials, they held little sway over Phillip the Idol hopeful. And that’s how it should be: real, not staged, because once the multimillion-dollar production is not your backdrop, it’s a dramatically different picture.

A little marketability goes a long way … and Phillip has it big-time. With artists like Gotye and fun. moving the needle back from dance and electronic music toward more organic instruments and a rock sensibility, someone like Phillip -- who’s influenced by the acoustic sounds of Dave Matthews and Damien Rice -- might be the perfect fit for the next pop trend. It’s all about timing, after all, and even if he is a WGWG (white guy with guitar -- four have won Idol in just as many years), that says something about what the masses want to hear.

There’s something to be said for being easy on the eyes. No point in beating around the bush: That Phillip is phoxy, and with Idol’s audience being predominantly female, a Team Phillips win should satisfy many millions of women come hump day. (OK, maybe there was a better way to say that.) Point being: In this business, good looks can only help when it comes to selling music, both out the gate and over the long haul.

In the great tradition of Idol risk-takers, Phillip stands among them. David Cook, Adam Lambert, Taylor Hicks, Blake Lewis -- all were Idol game-changers who rewrote the rules while staying true to their own musical identities. It wasn’t always easy and required the sort of creative fortitude that, let’s face it, a 16-year-old simply could not pull off. Think: Cook’s cover of Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby,” Lambert’s “Mad World,” Lewis taking on Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name,” and Phillips doing “In the Air Tonight” or “U Got It Bad” or “The Letter” or … you get where this is going.

Bottom line: All three finalists can sing. Joshua Ledet and Jessica Sanchez might even be more polished vocalists than Phillip, but when it comes to rock star potential, imperfections are worn as a badge of honor. Phillip Phillips is not perfect. He doesn’t wear shiny things or flaunt any flash, he had flip-flops on at his audition, and few things in life make him happier than his trusty six-string and a song with meaning. Let’s hope he never changes.

Nicole Kidman

http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2006/celebdatabase/nicolekidman/nicole_kidman1_300_400.jpg

Date of Birth
20 June 1967, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA
Birth Name
Nicole Mary Kidman
Nickname
Nic
Height
5' 11" (1.80 m)
Mini Biography
Elegant redhead Nicole Kidman, known as one of Hollywood's top Australian imports, was actually born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Australian parents Anthony (a biochemist and clinical psychologist) and Janelle (a nursing instructor) Kidman. The family moved almost immediately to Washington, DC, where Nicole's father pursued his research on breast cancer, and then, three years later, made the pilgrimage to her parents' native Sydney. Young Nicole's first love was ballet, but she eventually took up mime and drama as well (her first stage role was a bleating sheep in an elementary school Christmas pageant). In her adolescent years, acting edged out the other arts and became a kind of refuge -- as her classmates sought out fun in the sun, the fair-skinned Kidman retreated to dark rehearsal halls to practice her craft. She worked regularly at the Philip Street Theater, where she once received a personal letter of praise and encouragement from audience member Jane Campion (then a film student). Kidman eventually dropped out of high school to pursue acting full-time. She broke into movies at age 16, landing a role in the Australian holiday favorite Bush Christmas (1983). That appearance touched off a flurry of film and TV offers, including a lead in BMX Bandits (1983) and a turn as a schoolgirl-turned-protester in the miniseries "Vietnam" (1987) (for which she won her first Australian Film Institute Award). With the help of an American agent, she eventually made her US debut opposite Sam Neill in the at-sea thriller Dead Calm (1989).

Kidman's next casting coup scored her more than exposure. While starring as Tom Cruise's doctor/love interest in the racetrack romance Days of Thunder (1990), she won over the Hollywood hunk hook, line, and sinker. After a whirlwind courtship (and decent box office returns), the couple wed on December 24, 1990. Determined not to let her new marital status overshadow her fledgling career, the actress pressed on. She appeared as a catty high school senior in the Australian film Flirting (1991), then as Dustin Hoffman's moll in the gangster flick Billy Bathgate (1991). She reunited with Cruise for Far and Away (1992), the story of young Irish lovers who flee to America in the late 1800s, and starred opposite Michael Keaton in the tear-tugger My Life (1993). Despite her steady employment, critics and moviegoers still hadn't quite warmed to Kidman as a leading lady. She tried to spice up her image by seducing Val Kilmer in Batman Forever (1995), but achieved her real breakthrough with Gus Van Sant's To Die For (1995). As a fame-crazed housewife determined to eliminate any obstacle in her path, Kidman proved that she had an impressive range and deadly comic timing. She took home a Golden Globe and several critics' awards for the performance. In 1996, Kidman stepped into a corset to work with her countrywoman and onetime admirer, Jane Campion, on the adaptation of Henry James's The Portrait of a Lady (1996). A few months later, she tore across the screen as a nuclear weapons expert in The Peacemaker (1997), adding "action star" to her professional repertoire.

She and Cruise then disappeared into a notoriously long, secretive shoot for Stanley Kubrick's sexual thriller Eyes Wide Shut (1999). The couple's on-screen shenanigans prompted an increase in public speculation about their sex life (rumors had long been circulating that their marriage was a cover-up for Cruise's homosexuality); tired of denying tabloid attacks, they successfully sued The Star for a story alleging that they needed a sex therapist to coach them through love scenes. Family life has always been a priority for Kidman. Born to social activists (mom was a feminist; dad, a labor advocate), Nicole and her little sister, Antonia Kidman, discussed current events around the dinner table and participated in their parents' campaigns by passing out pamphlets on street corners. When her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, 17-year-old Nicole stopped working and took a massage course so that she could provide physical therapy (her mom eventually beat the cancer). She and Cruise adopted two children: Isabella Jane (born in 1993) and Connor Antony (born 1995). Despite their rock-solid image, the couple announced in early 2001 that they were separating due to career conflicts. Her marriage to Cruise ended mid-summer of 2001.
